We are back!
Yes, Steve Peat and friends are happier than ever to announce this year’s race on the 14th of May 2022. “The biggest little race in the world” is back and ready to finally celebrate its 10th Birthday in style.
It’s been 10 races since we first partnered with the Wildlife Trust in Sheffield to help buy Greno Woods and keep it as a venue for all; from Birds to Bikes to Badgers. Those 10 years have flown by (apart from the last two) and much has changed in the woods thanks to hard work, dedication and generosity.
We will be marking a decade of downhill with a bang, a celebration of everything we’ve enjoyed and achieved over the years; with more cheers and more beers and maybe a couple of new things on offer up our sleeves. We want you there with us, so get Saturday 14th May in the Diary!
So, what can you expect from this year’s race?
Starting high up on the start ramp and ending in the cauldron of noise of the bomb hole finish arena, racers will be faced by a fast revamped track, with some new features to get you thinking, high speeds bigger berms and maybe THAT gap! But don’t worry, it will still be a high-speed rollercoaster of a track, fun for groms and pros alike.
The bomb hole is where you will find the event village, with excellent locally sourced food from pizza to pulled pork, great coffee from Forge coffee roasters and beers provided by Bradfield Brewery.
Not to mention a wide range of exhibitors from local long-term supporters Cotic to Santa Cruz Bicycles, the ever-entertaining race merchandise stand and everything else you could want in between from soft goods to essential spares and repairs that you need on the day.
This year’s race entries will be going live soon and will be the fastest finger first format, so make sure that you are all set and ready so you don’t miss out. But don’t worry, even without a place in the race we promise that you will have one of the best days out of year. Over 3000 spectators certainly thought so.
